Building Community Capacity for Collective Ownership

Community leaders are driving progress forward on innovative shared equity structures like community land trusts. These offer San Antonians a new path to ownership and asset building and represent a promising option for families to gain a foothold towards establishing multi-generational wealth. As leaders navigate making these initiatives a reality, the need for new forms of technical assistance and capacity building is emerging as a community priority. This is something that was highlighted during the first event in this series, the May 1 AFN and LISC gathering on community land trusts, and the topic deserves additional conversation.

Local and national experts will discuss current and future opportunities to build shared capacity around collective ownership, the role of community groups in driving conversation around priorities and setting a shared agenda, and opportunities for investment/support by philanthropy and government agencies.

“Building Community Capacity for Collective Ownership” will include local and national framing information from H.E. Butt Foundation’s Executive Director of Media and Communications Patton Dodd and AFN’s Director of Strategic Initiatives Christi Baker and a two-part panel discussion on how we build collective capacity for community ownership featuring:
