Youth and young adults from 16 to 25 years of age are in a life-cycle stage distinct from other periods of development. These years are consequential. What happens during this time will impact the trajectory of their lives. Lack of access to supports and opportunities hinders the ability of young people to thrive. This not only affects young people and their families but also has broader implications for community well-being and our society as a whole.
AFN developed a brief in partnership Aspen Institute Financial Security Program (FSP) that focused on the financial capability needs of youth and young adults. The Roundtable Discussion Series is based on the financial well-being framework outlined in the brief. We ask all participants to prepare by watching this video beforehand.
The Discussion Series consists of four member-only, virtual roundtable discussions about the financial well-being of youth and young adults. These discussions are informal, small-group, member-only spaces curated to share promising strategies, voice challenges, and shape how we think about current and future investments to support youth and young adult financial well-being.
The Roundtable Discussion Series includes four sessions. Each session will be designed as a standalone discussion, but funders are encouraged to attend the entire series.
Each of the four virtual roundtables will address the following:
