Puget Sound: Taking Root: Seeding Wealth Equity in our Communities
The Puget Sound Asset Funders Network and colleagues across philanthropic, public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors launched our year long series Seeding Wealth Equity in Our Communities. Each quarterly forum highlighted research, built shared understanding and dialogue, and spotlighted practices, programs, and policies with potential to reverse wealth disparities and create and build wealth across generations.
Through candid dialogue with colleagues across sectors, we worked to break down barriers, build trust and identify key questions and credible solutions.
We’ll end 2019 with an Equity Solutions Summit lifting up ideas and opportunities for collaboration grounded in our work together.
Our first forum on December 13th opened the door to share dialogue by examining the narratives and systems that can perpetuate wealth divides or foster equity. We began by understanding philanthropy as a system and its relationship to wealth.
How can acknowledging and understanding philanthropy’s roots better inform practices and policies?
After the forum, we stayed for the reception to continue the conversation and celebrate as we wrap up the year.
