Tess Martin is the Director of Impact Investing & Treasury for Coastal Community Foundation.

Tess joined Coastal Community Foundation in 2018, after working in New York City for several years in the alternative investments space. Coastal Community Foundation (CCF) works to create communities rich in equity, opportunity, and well-being by uniting people and investing resources so that all community members have a pathway to achieve their goals. CCF is the largest grantmaking organization and community foundation in South Carolina.

Tess oversees Coastal Community Foundation’s Place-Based Impact Investing (PBII) program and leads the Foundation’s investment goals from a community impact perspective. The PBII program was created for CCF to actively invest in businesses and nonprofit programs that will achieve both a measurable financial return as well as a positive, social impact in South Carolina communities. As the PBII lead, Tess works closely with organizations across nine counties of coastal South Carolina to deploy capital for local-level investments, supporting initiatives in affordable housing, capacity building, small business lending, workforce development, and physical & mental well-being.
