Gabriel Treves-Kagan is the Vice President of Development at the Latino Community Credit Union (LCCU). LCCU is a bilingual, federally-insured credit union with CDFI and MDI certifications and a low-income designation. LCCU provides ethical financial products and education to 125,000 members. LCCU has $900 million in assets, 15 branches across North Carolina and a Virtual Center for remote access. It has members across the U.S. and makes mortgages in NC, SC, VA, and GA. LCCU has made $1.6 billion in life-changing loans to Latinos and immigrants who are traditionally locked out of the financial mainstream. 93% of its borrowers are Latino and 80% are low-income when they take out their first loan.
Gabriel brings passion to his work drawn from his experience as an immigrant; he was born in Mexico and lived in Argentina before moving to the United States. He started his career working in the labor movement for the United Farm Workers in the California Central Valley and spent time as a public sector strategic planner and evaluator before joining LCCU. Gabriel also worked as the Deputy Director of Global Growers Network, an Atlanta-based food and land justice organization.
