Dr. Chris Shropshire is a Program Officer on the Family Economic Security Team working with a grants portfolio focused on increasing economic mobility through connecting workforce development systems with communities, developing and supporting high quality k12 schools and systems as well as innovative and impactful learning experiences for kids and families. Chris has more than 15 years of experience in K-12 and higher education administration. His prior work as Executive Director of Operations with the Leadership Academy Network (Fort Worth, TX), co-launching an in-district partnership of a network of 6 autonomous FWISD campuses has resulted in sustained student growth and improved achievement for these traditionally low performing campuses. As a charter school authorizer, Chris has overseen networks of more than 62 schools that have served more than 31,000 students and collaborated to create systems of support for students to successfully navigate higher educational systems.

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan, an MBA from Northwood University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. Chris serves as a board member and finance and operations committee chair of Empower Schools, board member of Child Care Associates, Big Thought, and the Board of Visitors with the TCU College of Education, is a Research Fellow with the University of Alabama Education Policy Center, and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – serving as a board member of the Beta Tau Lambda Education Foundation Board. Most importantly, Chris is married to his best friend and partner Ana and has two beautiful daughters, Cataleya, and Zinnia.
