The Barber of Little Rock Documentary Screening
On February 6, 2025, Memphis AFN chapter, in partnership with the Arkansas AFN chapter and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis – Memphis Office, hosted a screening of The Barber of Little Rock documentary for AFN members, partners, local nonprofits, and service providers. The screening was followed by a facilitated conversation and audience Q&A with Arlo Washington, People Trust Community Federal Credit Union.
The event served as an opportunity to introduce the Memphis AFN chapter to a broader local audience and to highlight some of AFN’s work and publications focused on the role of CDFIs in increasing wealth generation and equality. As one attendee shared, “there can be significant social and economic impact when passionate and highly capable leaders who emerge from struggling communities are supported and connected to networks of influence.”
Next up: AFN Memphis has identified housing, employment and income, and chapter development as areas of focus for 2025 and will engage in shared learning and action initiatives throughout the year.
