Arkansas Community Foundation

About the Initiative

Arkansas Community Foundation collaborates with Governor Asa Hutchinson asking Arkansans to make donations to the COVID-19 Relief Fund that will serve the state’s most vulnerable populations and those disproportionately affected by the coronavirus and its economic crisis. March 20, 2020, the Foundation has issued 175 grants to nonprofits helping with pandemic relief and is currently reviewing additional applications on a daily basis.

About the Initiative

Baptist Community Ministries has awarded $400,000 in grants to support those in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 Regional Response Effort

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana

About the Initiative

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has set up a grant fund of $2 million for nonprofits meeting the needs of Louisianians who have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak—this can include immediate needs like food, clothing, shelter, paying utility bills, and more. Additionally, there is a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana’s Employees 1st Fund, which will provide small grants to Blue Cross employees whose immediate families experience unforeseen financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the Initiative

Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation has provided $300,000 to six regional food banks and unrestricted any previously awarded grants from December 2018 to December 2019.

Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) created The Neighbor Relief Fund for Marion County which will provide resources and support to grassroots and neighborhood organizations working directly to support seniors, residents without health insurance or sick days, those with limited English proficiency, health care workers, hourly employees who have lost work, communities of color and economically vulnerable populations, during the pandemic.

About the Initiative

Citi provided $15 million to support COVID-19 related relief activities globally. The funds will be for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, with $5 million to No Kid Hungry to support emergency Food Distribution Programs in the United States, and remaining funds will be directed to country specific efforts in places that are severely impacted and international.

About the Initiative

The Chief Executive Officer of Communities Unlimited and AFN member Ines Polonius, spoke before the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Agriculture, Trade, and Entrepreneurship on a bipartisan virtual forum, The Effects of COVID-19 on Rural Economies, to address the economic challenges facing rural communities. Ines discussed what is working well with the SBA programs, what is not, and what more Congress can do to support rural economies, as well as making three policy recommendations. READ MORE
