All too often, a job alone is insufficient to build immediate financial security, let alone sustainable wealth. Stagnating wages, unreliable schedules, and a lack of portable benefits mean that employment does not always equate to building wealth. As low- and moderate-income (LMI) workers struggle to balance day-to-day necessities with future investments, philanthropy has a critical opportunity to help reshape the benefits landscape.
On July 9, 2026, AFN held a webinar exploring the workplace benefits landscape, innovative strategies employers can take to support workers’ financial health and long-term economic mobility, and the role of philanthropy in catalyzing action. Together we:
- Elevated the important role of benefits in building economic stability and mobility
- Expanded understanding of benefits to prioritize asset-building
- Explored what funders can do now to expand benefits access and asset-building potential
Speakers:
- Don Baylor, Jr., Founder & CEO, Worker Solutions, LLC
- Tracey Durner, Director, Commonwealth
- Malavika Krishnan, Financial Health Senior Associate, Global Philanthropy, JPMorganChase
