On July 23rd, 2020, Louisiana AFN held a regional webinar: Emergency Savings in the Face of COVID-19

Today, more than ever, we see the impact and hard decisions made by the people of Louisiana as they work hard to make ends meet. This is especially true for households we call ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed). Every day and particularly in times of crisis, it is critical for individuals to have savings to help survive and meet unanticipated challenges. But, is that realistic? What mechanisms, policies, and strategies should funders and practitioners explore to increase opportunities for ALICE households to save?

This discussion highlighted recent data on how ALICE has been impacted financially with insights into savings/lack of savings, as well as elevated realistic strategies for funders and nonprofits to explore with specific respect to the new realities that have been created by COVID-19.
