Takiyah Butler serves as the Western NY Regional Program Officer at Asset Funders Network (AFN). In this role, she supports the emerging WNY regional chapter to close the racial wealth gap in the region and economic justice nationally.

Before AFN, Takiyah specialized in guiding individuals, communities and organizations through the tough work necessary to redesign complex systems to ensure equal/ balanced voice and choice for all. As Principal & Owner of Excelsior Performance Group, LLC. a Performance Improvement firm focused on strategic planning/ facilitation, social systems design and stakeholder engagement/ coaching, she helps individuals and organizations across the country to amplify what works and align their efforts toward shared vision of economic wellbeing for all.

For over 15 years, her roles have included local & national community organizing, leadership development, operations management, and action research with communities in Miami, FL, Las Vegas, NV, and Rochester, NY ranging from topics including Housing Development, Education Reform, Economic Development, Mental Health and Youth Development.

Takiyah received a MSEd degree in Community & Social Change from University of Miami and a BA in Economics from Binghamton University – SUNY. She currently resides in both Rochester, NY and Miami, FL. .
