Christopher S. Gunter (Chris) serves as Regional Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Market Manager for Community Engagement at JPMorganChase, where he leads the firm’s philanthropic strategy across Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Southern New Jersey. He oversees strategic investments and cross-sector partnerships that advance economic opportunity by aligning business, philanthropy, government, and nonprofit organizations around shared community priorities. His work focuses on accelerating business growth, expanding careers and skills, strengthening community development, and improving financial health to create lasting impact across the region.
Prior to joining JPMorganChase, Chris served as Vice President and Program Officer at the Capital One Foundation, where he managed a multimillion-dollar philanthropic portfolio spanning the Northeast and Midwest. He led strategic investments in workforce development, entrepreneurship, financial well-being, affordable housing, and racial equity, partnering with community leaders to develop scalable, systems-level solutions that expanded economic opportunity.
A trained criminologist, Chris also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Delaware State University, where he teaches courses in sociology, criminal justice, and public policy. His teaching and scholarship examine the intersection of criminal justice, social inequality, and systems change, reinforcing his commitment to advancing equitable outcomes through education, research, and civic leadership.
Chris earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminology from the University of Delaware. His leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including Delaware Business Times 40 Under 40 (2026), selection to Leadership Delaware’s Class of 2024 and induction into the Howard High School’s Hall of Fame (2023).
