Texas Statewide Three-Part Virtual Learning Series: Investing in Early Childhood as Economic Infrastructure | How Philanthropy Can Advance Economic Mobility for Texas Families – Session Two
Early childhood has traditionally been viewed through the lens of education and child development. Increasingly, however, it is being recognized as essential economic infrastructure—supporting parents’ ability to work, strengthening employers’ workforce, improving family financial stability, and laying the foundation for long-term economic mobility.
This conversation comes at a pivotal moment for Texas. Governor Abbott’s newly established Task Force on Early Childhood Education and Care is developing recommendations to improve the quality, accessibility, affordability, and coordination of early childhood systems statewide. At the same time, philanthropic organizations across Texas are investing in innovative approaches that connect child care, workforce participation, financial well-being, and economic opportunity.
Join the Asset Funders Network and partners from across Texas for a 60-minute conversation exploring how philanthropy can help shape the future of early childhood as an economic strategy. Participants will hear the latest policy and systems developments, learn from emerging philanthropic investments, and identify opportunities to align funding, partnerships, and learning ahead of the Task Force’s final recommendations.
Participants will leave with:
- A clear understanding of why early childhood is increasingly viewed as economic infrastructure.
- An overview of the Governor’s Early Childhood Task Force and what its work could mean for philanthropy.
- Examples of innovative strategies and investments emerging across Texas.
- Practical ideas for how funders can align grantmaking, partnerships, and policy learning to improve outcomes for children, families, employers, and communities.
- Opportunities to engage with peers around future collaborative learning and investment.
