Renter Wealth Building: Defining the Field and Sharing Opportunities for Funder Engagement
As we seek to understand and define renter wealth building, researchers and thought leaders are exploring several different strategies that can collectively stabilize finances and build assets for renters.
Topics such as growing emergency savings and disposable income, creating pathways to owning a home or community assets, or transforming rent into part of a property’s “capital stack” are emerging. Additionally, state and local policies can address the relative lack of consistent and coordinated wealth building opportunities for renters.
Please join Asset Funders Network, the Aspen Institute, and Lafayette Square Institute for a virtual briefing that explores a variety of frameworks for understanding and taking action on renter wealth building, including how the philanthropic community can incorporate renter wealth building into their approaches to housing, economic mobility and stability, policy advocacy, and expanding asset building opportunities.

- Katie Deal, Vice President, Lafayette Square Institute
- Leah Mayor, Senior Director, Asset Funders Network (Moderator)
