Leveraging an equity centered approach for investing in recovery and rebuilding

An Online AFN Member Conversation:
We are not going back to normal! COVID-19 demonstrates how our policy choices have and do create wealth inequity as communities of color, women, immigrants, people with disabilities and people with little to no income bear the brunt of the health and economic consequences of this crisis. Our massive federal response proved we can be bold when necessary. It also perpetuated these inequities.

Philanthropy can help chart a new direction building on bold equity centered approaches from emergency relief through to our rebuilding efforts. Share your insights, challenges, and questions about how together we can help set the terms for necessary systems change even as we are deeply engaged in relief efforts. Let’s discuss ingredients of an equity centered approach. The conversation can include (but isn’t limited to) what we mean by equity, designing strategies, who makes/informs decisions, types of grants, internal approaches to supporting nonprofits, engaging funding partners, creating opportunities to lead change, and planting seeds for and moving big ideas forward.

Please submit your questions and additional discussion topics when you register below. Then bring your challenges, questions, and bold ideas on June 1 to spark robust conversation and share and learn from your peers.
