Home Repair as Housing Stability: Regional Needs, Barriers, and Opportunities

Join fellow grantmakers and local government partners for a regional learning session on home repair as a strategy for housing stability, wealth preservation, and long-term affordability in Central Texas.

Hosted by the Asset Funders Network of Central Texas, this conversation will explore the urgency of home repair needs facing communities across the region, particularly in smaller and rural communities where resources and capacity are often limited. We will hear from members of the Austin Home Repair Coalition, including Rebuilding Together Austin and Austin Habitat for Humanity, about what they are seeing on the ground, the barriers homeowners face in accessing repairs, and opportunities for stronger regional coordination and systems-level solutions.

Speakers:
Awais Azhar, HousingWorks
Natalee Ball, Coats Rose, P.C.
Fran Baylor, Asset Funders Network
Lianna Flores McNeil, Rebuilding Together Austin San Antonio
Simone Talma Flowers, Interfaith Action of Central Texas
Jesse Porter, Rebuilding Together Austin San Antonio
Bryan Sykes, Operation Finally Home
Billy Whipple, Austin Habitat for Humanity

Together, participants will discuss issues such as funding gaps, heirs’ property and probate challenges, and opportunities for philanthropy and public sector partners to support  regional approaches to home repair and preservation as a part of a holistic housing strategy.

This event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided by Austin Community Foundation.
