Connecticut Direct Cash Assistance Pilots Directly Support Family Financial Security

Please join Connecticut AFN and an exciting line-up of speakers for an in-person meeting to learn about and support Guaranteed Income in Connecticut.

For the 11% of Connecticut residents below the federal poverty line and a further 29% ALICE (asset-limited, income-constrained, employed) households, making financial ends meet is often a trade-off between paying for one necessity versus another. There is growing evidence that direct, unconditional cash is a uniquely flexible, efficient, and swift means to address a range of issues including housing stability, mental health, physical health, school achievement, employment, and earnings.

Across our state, Connecticut has over a dozen direct cash and guaranteed income programs run by 4-CT, The Bridge Project, Connecticut Urban Opportunity Collaborative, and the Wealth Accelerator Direct Cash Transfer Pilot Initiative. Although target populations and program specifics vary, all offer direct cash support for targeted Connecticut populations, and are a tested, proven, and efficient model to bridge income gaps, boost finances, and support mental and physical health.

Please join Asset Funders Network for a panel discussion to:

  • Inform philanthropic partners and local stakeholders about the differences, similarities, and nuances of the various Connecticut Direct Cash programs
  • Identify shared goals in research, policy, advocacy, and infrastructure that could support all of Connecticut’s direct cash programs
  • Discuss how AFN and other stakeholders can better understand and support collaborative efforts to strengthen guaranteed income in the state

Speakers:

Liany Arroyo, Director, Connecticut Urban Opportunity Collaborative
Sarah Blanton, CEO, 4-CT
Angela Li, Strategic Partnerships Manager, Bridge Project
Yaw Owusu-Boahen, Executive Director, Wealth Accelerator CT
