Join us in Concord for a presentation & discussion on Poverty and Health: Contra Costa Perspectives & Innovations

10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
"If you want to lower my blood pressure, help me pay my electric bill."
Thanks to innovations in the public health field, it's clear that family income and assets strongly correlate to health outcomes. When people are living in poverty, their health suffers on a number of levels. Beyond availability of health insurance, social factors such as access to employment or quality of built environment play a role in individual health, chronic disease and life expectancy.
The Bay Area is a leader in developing innovative, cross-cutting work incorporating both health and wealth strategies. At this convening, we want to highlight the work here in Contra Costa and spark a conversation about how to build on it, by bringing together nonprofit organizations, public sector staff and funders.
At this event, we will hear from Contra Costa leaders who are working on this issue in a variety of contexts. Following the panel, we invite participants to discuss the opportunities to bridge interests and cross silos to make stronger connections between economic security and health outcomes.
