2017 Assets Matter Symposium
November 2, 2017  |  Oakland, CA  |  8:30 am - 2:30 pm
Join Bay Area funders, nonprofits, public agencies, and policymakers on November 2nd where we will bring together asset building practitioners, advocates, funders, and enthusiasts for a day of ideas, information-sharing and connecting with other innovators. This event is designed to bring together the asset building field, from the experts to the newbies!  This year AFN is proud to co-sponsor the annual symposium with California Asset Building Coalition (CABC).

The goal of this year's conference is to generate new and ideas and highlight innovative strategies across a range of topics (products, services, issue areas, policies, populations served) in the asset building and financial empowerment fields in California.

Our morning plenary will feature a keynote address from Anne Price, Executive Director of the Insight Center for Community Economic Development. Since 2011, Anne has led the Closing the Racial Wealth Gap Initiative at the Insight Center, elevating the voices and opinions of experts of color in national economic debates and policy making. Her tireless work has brought the issue of the racial wealth gap into mainstream consciousness and vernacular with an explosion of media coverage of the data and research quantifying racial differences in wealth accumulation.
This symposium is co-organized by the Bay Area Asset Funders Network and the California Asset Building Coalition,

BA AFN Steering Committee members include Bank of America Foundation, California Wellness Foundation, Friedman Family Foundation, San Francisco Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, United Way of the Bay Area, Walter and Elise Haas Fund, and Y & H Soda Foundation.
