Director of Operations
Jill Geltmaker has been a focused and effective leader in addressing gender and anti immigrant bias across the silos of service delivery, developing and implementing program start up, and stabilizing nonprofit operations. Her efforts have effectively enhanced lives through employment, asset building, microbusiness, and therapeutic services. Jill is a consultant to non-profits and philanthropy who serves as the AFN Director of Operations.
As the Director of Operations, Jill leads the development and implementation of administrative and financial policies; manages grants and contracts; and oversees the smooth running of day-to-day operations. Jill also provides issue area expertise and leadership for AFN programming and special projects on topics related to economic stability for women, immigrants, and refugees.
Before joining AFN, Jill served as the Chief Operating Officer for the International Institute of New England – overseeing employment, educational, legal and service programming for refugee populations.
Prior to that, Jill served as the Managing Director of the Employment and Economic Advancement Division for Heartland Human Care Services, Inc. In this role Jill successfully led the implementation of Put Illinois to Work, a statewide program employing 27,300 persons in publicly subsidized jobs over a 9-month period. Jill also reinvigorated Refugee Resettlement services, led the implementation of a 14 state anti human trafficking effort, and piloted a successful holistic homeless services program.
Jill began her career developing and leading programming for survivors of violence, including domestic violence and sexual assault in Illinois and Virginia.
